Our group decided we wanted to focus more on the female protagonist, and we wanted the film to be a 'slasher' type theme as it would involve ghosts and serial killers rather than paranormal horror that is more popular in the 21st century. We got this idea mainly from watching 'The Woman In Black' as they have a male as the main character, however, the film features the ghost as a woman.
The location of 'The Woman In black' is similar to the setting in out own film. Both location's being dark and gloomy. The marshlands was a perfect setting for a horror movie to take place and this is why we chose it. It is clear that we got a lot of our inspiration from 'The Woman In Black'.
Another feature that is similar to 'The Woman In black' is that both ghosts wanted revenge, however, what is different about our movie compared to the woman in black is that our ghost turns out to be good in the end because she helps warn another student that her teacher might choose her as his next victim. This is quite a modern twist in my opinion as not many old horror movies have the villain's turn out to be the hero's. We liked the idea of this because as the teacher is not a serial killer or psychopath he is willing to kill innocent girls - this is typical of a 'slasher' film genre. However, when the two girls team up it gives a semblance of woman power to the film which would be attractive to out target audience.
